January’s book is “Kabul Beauty School” – a true story about an engaging divorced mom and beautician who, somewhat naively, volunteered to go to Kabul to cut hair for the other volunteers, but ended up changing the lives of over 400 Afghan women by teaching them skills and giving them a means of earning a living while the Afghan government tried to shut her down. It’s a quick, entertaining, lighter read that gives real insight into the lives of our Muslim sisters and shows how one seemingly ordinary person can make a tremendous difference.
The January discussion time/place will be arranged as soon as our chair gets back into the area. Information will be posted on the SOSA website and go out via e-mail.
