The Ladies of Leisure will be going out to dinner and a movie on Friday, April 22nd! We will be seeing “Water for Elephants” and going to dinner at Chili’s in Lisbon. An evite will go out shortly. If you are not getting the evites, please email Karen Lancaster (her contact information is in the directory) to be added. Likewise, if you know of a new spouse who would like to attend, please email Karen as well.

This event is open to ALL officers and spouses. Please pass along the invitation to any officer/spouse who may be interested. They do not have to be a member of SOSA to attend. Part of the proceeds earned will go to Navy-Marine Corp Relief Society. This is also a perfect event to pick out holiday gifts – even for those with spouses out to sea.
Please RSVP to Karen, if possible. You do NOT have to RSVP to come. Karen would, however, like to get a general idea of how many people will be there. If you don’t RSVP and still want to come, you may. You can also email Karen with any questions. Our first Ladies of Leisure event will be Sunday, October 3 at 5:00pm. We will meet at Ann Taylor at the Crystal Mall for an evening of shopping and fun at a great discount. It should be a great time to shop…new fall items will have just arrived to the store! We are allowed to bring in wine and cheese (or some other easy appetizers), so if anyone is interested in bringing either, please contact me Karen Lancaster. What a fun way to kick off our Ladies of Leisure events! Look for information about our next event soon! It will also be in October and will be a fun fall activity!
The Ladies of Leisure will get together one last time for the SOSA year. We are meeting on Monday, May 17th at 6:30pm. We are headed to the Clayroom, located at 1064 Poquonock Rd, Groton (that’s Rt 1, next to the Dunkin Donuts and Book Trader). The Clayroom is an art studio where you can paint your own pottery. There is an $8 sitting fee that covers all supplies. You also pay for the cost of the pieces you choose. You can read more about the shop by going to their website, www.clayroomgroton.com. We do need to get an accurate count for this event, so please RSVP to me by Thursday, May 13th. Also, we will be looking for a new Ladies of Leisure chair for next year. We are heading out this Tuesday for lunch at Skippers in Niantic. After that, we are going to head right down the road to the Book Barn. Let’s meet at noon. Skippers is located at 167 Main St in Niantic. The Book Barn (there are three locations, we are going to the “main barn”) is located at 41 West Main St. Join us for one or both events. Remember to bring your used books…the Book Barn buys back books. Children are welcome and please feel free to bring friends. The more, the merrier!
