SOSA Members Meeting with Mrs. Donnelly

Admiral and Mrs. Donnelly will be in Groton on the fourth of December for the christening of The Missouri.  Mrs. Donnelly wishes to meet with the ladies of SOSA.  This is a great opportunity to spend some time with a senior officer spouse and learn from her experiences.  Please bring your questions regarding Dolphin Scholarship, entertaining, FRG’s, wardroom camaraderie, moving, etc…

It would be wonderful to have a large turnout to welcome Mrs. Donnelly to Groton.  We will be meeting at 11:30 am on December fourth at the Group 2 building on base.  Babysitting will be available on site for our normal fee.

Please RSVP if you can attend as well for babysitting via the web site, GrotonSOSA.com. We hope to see you all there.

Welcome Party

Hello Ladies,

We are getting some great volunteers for our kick off welcome party. We are still going to need some more volunteers though. We still need volunteers especially for clean up. We also need a few more for set up and for food.

We also need some volunteers to work during the Welcome Party. We need a volunteer for 2nd Shift Welcome table..You will work the Welcome table from 4pm – 5pm and just help people sign in and welcome them. We also need 2 volunteers to work the 1st or 2nd shift Membership Table. 1st shift will be from 3pm-4pm, and 2nd shift from 4pm-5pm.

This is a great opportunity to volunteer to help us out since you were going to be at the party during those hours anyways!! Contact Kristen or I if you can help us out in anyway!
Thanks everyone, see you at the Welcome Party!!

Amanda and Kristen

We need YOU…for the SOSA Welcome Party!

We recently announced in the Jottings that the SOSA Welcome Party is Sunday, September 13 from 3 – 5pm (childcare is provided from 2 – 6 at Shepard of the Sea) and we need volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up and food!

- Set-up entails helping us position tables, put on table linens and decorate (with seashells!), put up easels with a few signs, plate food (after 2:00) and perhaps help the Dolphin Store set up if needed.

- Food means baking or cooking your favorite finger foods and sweet treats that we will elegantly present on the SOSA silver. Food will be due at the Bushong’s house by 2:00 the day of the event so we have time to plate it prior to the party starting.

- Clean-up involves packaging up left over food to either send home with people or take down to any boats that are in, breaking down tables, boxing up linens and essentially putting the Bushong’s house back the way we found it.

As we are having the party inside the Bushong’s house, we do not expect set-up or clean-up to be extremely labor intensive as we will be using much of their existing furniture for the party.

Please respond to our VPs Kristin Patton and Amanda Smith at 2009-2010VPOperations@GrotonSOSA.com by Monday, August 31st if you are able to help us. We are so excited to be kicking off a new year of SOSA activities!

See you at the Party!
