The Dolphin Scholarship and Anchor Scholarship are excited to announce that the Race for the Pacific starts OCTOBER 7th!

The Race for the Pacific is a virtual race to honor the the Sacrifice of the US Submarine and Surface Fleets in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The race will follow the US Navy Through the Pacific, ending in Pearl Harbor, to Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Battle on December 7th.

This virtual race is run by YOUR donations! For each dollar donated, your ship or sub will go one nautical mile. The ship who finishes the race first or “travels” the furthest by December 7th will win the Race!

All Ships and submarines, commissioned, inactivated, decommissioned, nuclear or diesel-powered or fictitious are eligible to enter. Money may be donated by individuals, active commands, groups (such as SUBVETS, Reunion Groups, Goat Lockers, Family Readiness Groups, or Wardrooms), other organizations and corporations.

Submarine Ladies’ Community Pin

A Submarine Ladies’ Community pin designed by Ann Hand, renowned Washington, DC jewelry designer, is available for sale this week.  It will be sold exclusively by the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation with all proceeds contributing to scholarships for children of Submariners.  It will not be available for ordering through Ann Hand’s website or shop.  These pins are due to arrive mid-October.  This limited quantity of pins will be guaranteed for Christmas delivery.  Orders will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  Once they sell out their initial order, follow-on orders will be placed but will be determined by the demand for the pin.  The more orders received, the more frequently a new order can be placed with the factory.  I suggest anyone who is interested should order the pin immediately if they want it for Christmas.  Order forms and a flyer showing the design are attached.

The pin sells for $225.  It is 1-3/4″ long and features a representation of the Submariner’s “Dolphins” framing a fouled anchor, a symbol of the United States Navy.  Each pin is adorned with hand set sapphire blue and clear Swarovski crystals resting on a 10mm white faux pearl and made in the U.S.A.
