Updated Flu Vaccine Availablity

Here is the latest from the BHC: “We have received additional vaccine to cover some of our high risk medical population ages 25-64 years old.

In addition, we continue to have vaccine available for those 6 months to 24 years of age.

We also still have plenty of Seasonal Flu available to any age group.

Please forward the flyer for mass distribution. Thank you for your assistance. I periodically have been asking the patients where they found out about the vaccinations and many refer to you all.

BHC and H1N1 Information

New message from the Immunizations Coordinator at the Naval Branch Health Clinic, Groton:

At this time we do not have any information on when the H1N1 vaccine will be arriving at the clinic.  We anticipate its arrival in the next couple of weeks and tentatively plan for patients to come in on an appointment basis based on priority as outlined by the state of Connecticut H1N1 Press Release dtd 15 Oct 2009 ( http://www.ct.gov/ctfluwatch/cwp/view.asp?a=11&q=448922).

More information is also available by calling the Connecticut H1N1 Influenza Hotline at 1-800-830-9426 or logging into the CT Flu Watch website at http://www.ct.gov/ctfluwatch/site/default.asp.

Seasonal Flu Vaccinations at the BHC

I recently managed to get a contact at the BHC that is going to send me updates on flu shots and H1N1. Click here for the first flyer she has sent me - I’ll be posting updates on the front page of GrotonSOSA.com as well as the message board as they come in. Please feel free to let other wives on your boats and in your commands know that the information is and will be available online on http://www.GrotonSOSA.com as I receive it. The information is truly something that can be use by all – members/non-members, officers/enlisted…

Another FYI – if you visit the ‘official’ BHC website, the information posted there is inaccurate. I downloaded the immunization form and took it in only to be told the one I downloaded and filled out from the website was obsolete and had to fill out another one.
