You do not need to attend every gathering, every month to be on the mailing list. This allows us to get the most accurate information to you about the events that interest you. Being on the list is not an RSVP. If the event requires a reservation, please click on the RSVP icon located under the event description or call the event coordinator at the number listed in the jottings. We hope to see you there!

Book Club

Bookclub for April has been moved to May! Our book is still Moloka'i by Alan Brennert, bookclub will be held at Tastings in Mystic. Date as yet to be confirmed, those wishing to attend should e-mail Pippa to let her know suitable dates.

Moloka'i is set in Hawai'i more than a century ago and is an extraordinary epic of a little-known time and place - and a deeply moving testament to the resiliency of human spirit.
Rachel Kalama, a spirited seven-year-old Hawaiian girl, dreams of visiting far-off lands like her father, a merchant seaman. Then one day a rose-coloured mark appears on her skin, and those dreams are stolen from her. Taken from her home and family, Rachel is sent to Kalaupapa, the quarantined leprosy settlement on the island of Moloka'i. Here her life is supposed to end - but instead she discovers it is only just beginning.

Regards,
Pippa.

Ledyard Senior Center

This is the last one for the year! A big thank you to everyone that volunteered their time by making, baking, buying or helping out in the kitchen. This year was a huge success because of you! The June lunch will be on Wed. June 2nd. If you are kitchen help please be there at 10:00am to start preparing the lunch. All food must now be made on location so if you are donating a food item please bring as is and we will take care of the rest.

This months menu will be sloppy joes, tater tots, garden salad with fresh fruit and chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream!

Once again thank you all!

Ladies of Leisure

The Ladies of Leisure will get together one last time for the SOSA year.  We are meeting on Monday, May 17th at 6:30pm.  We are headed to the Clayroom, located at 1064 Poquonock Rd, Groton (that's Rt 1, next to the Dunkin Donuts and Book Trader).  The Clayroom is an art studio where you can paint your own pottery.  There is an $8 sitting fee that covers all supplies.  You also pay for the cost of the pieces you choose.  You can read more about the shop by going to their website, www.clayroomgroton.com.  We do need to get an accurate count for this event, so please RSVP to me by Thursday, May 13th.  Also, we will be looking for a new Ladies of Leisure chair for next year.  Let me know if you are interested!

Take care,
Brenda
