The Groton/New London Submarine Officers’ Spouses’ Association donated over $16,000 to charity last year!
Our next meeting will be
Thursday, December 5th, at 9:30 am
at Seaport Community Church
28 Great Brook Rd, Groton (off of Hwy 184).
Thank you to the membership for another great monthly meeting this November! What a great turnout, and a great group of ladies! We had a great speaker come discuss the Sub Vets Thanksgiving Program, and we are excited to help contribute to such a wonderful event again this year. As mentioned at the meeting, the Executive Board will be providing an opportunity for food drop-offs the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 27, so please stand by for those details.
Looking ahead we are gearing up for a great December! At our monthly membership meeting we will be having our Make It, Fake It, Bake It Auction to raise money for the organization. So if you're crafty, creative in the kitchen, or really good at "faking it", bring something to contribute, and come ready to bid on some awesome items that this membership provides! We will not be having a speaker at the December meeting to allow sufficient time for the auction fun!
We also announced this month that the annual SOSA Holiday Party will be held this year on Wednesday, December 18, at the Nautilus Submarine Museum. Again, keep your eyes and ears out for invitations in the mail, and more details to follow! We are looking forward to celebrating the holidays with everyone!
Just a monthly reminder about babysitting, the RSVP form is a MUST if you'd like to drop your child(ren) off for childcare at the monthly meetings. Please RSVP by the Wednesday prior to the meeting to ensure a spot! The flat rates for the entire meeting (these are not hourly rates) are as follows:
- 1 child = $5
- 2 children = $8
- 3 children or more = $10
This month went very smoothly, and we owe a big "thank you!" to our two babysitters, Amanda and Jill for keeping our kiddos busy!
Many members forgot their donations at the November meeting, so we will be collecting coats (men, women and children’s) at the December meeting and taking them to Covenant Shelter. There is a great need for men’s coats according to the shelter.
Also, Cari Barnes, one of our members, has graciously offered to collect cans and bottles from members to take to the Ledyard Animal Control to raise funds for the animal shelter. We are asking that all members bring rinsed cans and bottles (eligible for the 5 cents refund) UNCRUSHED to the December meeting. Cari will be out front to gather all recyclables before the meeting.
